Nine students from McComb’s Young People’s Project attended the 7th Annual Mississippi Civil Rights Movement Veterans Conference at Jackson State University and Tougaloo College in March, 2012.
Students participated in historic events such as the unveiling of the COFO Civil Rights Education Center at Jackson State University and the Frankye Adams-Johnson Black Panther Party Collection at the Margaret Walker Center. They also attended workshops on archiving, passing the torch, and the media.
Students particularly enjoyed meeting veterans, watching the MadDrama Theatre Group present the play “Unsettling Memories,” and the interactive performance by Hip Hop DetoxX.
